Facing Your Character

A contemporary creative dilemma I have observed arises from the usefulness of emojis or other small visuals that express emotion, as we try to cram this all into a handful of pixels. When tasked with creating home brew character expressions for discord and other digital applications, I found success by testing and creating a visual system to refine the complexities of a character’s face and personality.

A Lovable System

Working with a previously established system – such as creating work inspired by beloved characters from your favorite video game – can also make for interesting studies of color, form, and contrast in small form. This icon was a part of a for-charity zine package based on the Hades character Ares.

Creating for Creators

Custom badges designed for a content creator with a focus on gardening and growth. 

Role Playing Games can be very complex, but creating a specialized User Interface for both the character and user can facilitate a more fluid experience, and open up room for more unforgettable RP moments. A great character sheet is created with a tight balance of visuals and typography.
